Clayton Crofoot is the founder of Casual Kitchens (operating as Sunset Outdoor Kitchen Cabinets), based in Orlando, Florida. He builds marine-grade HDPE outdoor kitchen cabinets designed to survive Florida’s heat, humidity, and coastal salt air without rotting, warping, or delaminating.
Clayton started Casual Kitchens after years of watching traditional wood and even stainless steel cabinetry fail in Florida’s climate. Sun-baked plywood swells and cracks. Powder-coated steel rusts at the joints. Painted MDF peels inside a single rainy season. He chose high-density polyethylene (HDPE) — the same polymer used in marine dock boards and cutting boards — because it does not absorb water, resists UV degradation, and never needs resealing or repainting.
Every cabinet is manufactured at the Casual Kitchens workshop on John Young Parkway in Orlando. Clayton personally oversees material selection, CNC cutting tolerances, edge banding, and final assembly. Each unit ships with stainless steel hardware and integrated ventilation channels sized to Florida building code requirements.
From material selection to final delivery, Clayton is involved in every step. Here’s what that hands-on approach means for your outdoor kitchen.
Hands-on expertise in CNC cutting, edge banding, and assembly of marine-grade polyethylene cabinetry built for Florida’s climate.
Every cabinet is designed for direct sun, salt air, and daily rain cycles. UV-stable colors, ventilation channels, and corrosion-resistant hardware are standard.
Works directly with homeowners, contractors, and designers to plan outdoor kitchen layouts that fit the space, the appliances, and the budget.
