Using the NOAA 1991–2020 U.S. Climate Normals for Orlando International Airport (station USW00012815), the local climate load is measurable: 96.7 days a year at 90°F or hotter, 50.73 inches of rain across 117.1 rain days, and 3,424 cooling degree days — with an annual mean daily high of 82.8°F.

That sustained heat, moisture and sun is the reason we build in marine-grade polymer (HDPE) rather than wood or steel: wood outdoors can warp, swell and rot, and steel can rust. Grill fires peak in summer — and gas grills drive most of them

Outdoor cooking carries a seasonal fire-safety pattern worth designing around. Per NFPA Research, gas grills are involved in an average of 9,235 home fires a year in the United States (2020–2024 average), and grilling fires peak in July (15%), June (15%), May (13%) and August (11%). About 21,682 people a year are treated in emergency rooms for grill injuries (CPSC data, as reported by NFPA). NFPA also reports that nearly one-quarter of grill structure fires start on an exterior balcony or open porch.

Interpretation: the busiest grilling months are also the highest-risk months, and a meaningful share of structure fires start on porches and balconies — an argument for well-built, properly sited outdoor kitchens with non-combustible cabinetry and sensible clearances.
